Our New Home

Finding the perfect spot for our networking events has been … challenging, to say the least.

Our very first venue was wonderful: craft coffee and handmade pastries, woman owned and easy to park at. But it got busier and busier and didn’t have a private area. So it not longer worked for us.

Our next spot had a private space for us but wouldn’t bring in pastries- or enough staff to get coffees out quickly enough for a group (I think we once waited over an hour for our drinks!) We felt anything but appreciated there and decided the atmosphere wasn’t a good fit.

Then we tried a third place - which was great to start but unfortunately lately stopped treating our group as valued customers and allowed all kinds of noise and setup to happen in the middle of our events. No apology or attempt to plan around us. (Apologies again to those who attended our September event- beyond our control and we were as shocked and frustrated as you were.)

So let’s hope the fourth time’s the charm! Our October event will take place at our brand new venue: @thegladcafe !!

We LOVE this space. There’s excellent friendly service, a nice selection of coffees and pastries and great food if you want to stick around for lunch afterwards (they’ve even offered our community a discount if we do!)

AND they are a CIC (Community Interest Corporation) so they are right in line with our values.

We hope to see you all there at the end of the month: Tuesday, 28th October from 11 .15am to 1.15 pm at The Glad Cafe in Shawlands. Maybe we’ll be lucky enough to see more of our southside community members who couldn’t make the commute out to the west end?
